2020 MG Hector Review in Detail

MG Automobile is a newcomer to the Indian automobile market and MG is owned by Chinese Automobiles manufacture SAIC. But this does not mean that they are going to offer the average looking vehicle in the country. Hector is the first vehicle they launched in the Indian automobile market with state of the art design from exterior to interior. It has been so easy to recognize vehicle from a long distance without any problem on the road. The Indian market is not so easy to set up for new automobile manufacturing to make footprints in the country, where the largest part of automobile market is dominated by two brands and so it is going to be a tough competition for MG to attract buyers toward it. They launched Hector first in the market because they want to make a strong hold and Hector was introduced with all new features that were not available in the market at this price such as Internet-inside, Voice Command that controls most of the features given in Suv and hybrid technology. These feature in SUV helps MG Hector to gain market hold.

MG hector is based on the platform which is also used by the Baojun 530. Its dimensions are 1835 in Width, 4655 mm in Length, 1760 mm in Height, Boot Space 587 Litres, Ground Clearance 192 mm and Fuel Tank Capacity of 60 Liters. When it comes to design, the design elements are eye catching with a chrome finish on the front end of the vehicle. The most attractive part on the front end is the LED projector head lights placed near the LED fog lights which looks different and attracts everyone’s attention towards the vehicle. It is becoming very common that every vehicle DRLs are placed where headlamps are placed usually and ice cube projector headlights tells that the design of the vehicle is moving with the modern time.

The vehicle looks god from the side’s and most attractive part is the 17 inch dual tone alloy wheels which is well designed and also helps to enhance the looks of the vehicle. Around the vehicle, large cladding and the Chrome lines which creates the insignia of the MG Hector. The ORVMs comes with integrated Led Turn light indicator with body colored panel including features like electrically adjustable, parking camera and heating system to remove mist from the mirror’s. The tailgate is smartly designed with stretched taillights that looks attractive on the vehicle, D-Pillar with piano black finish creates the effect of a floating roof from long distance and silver finish skid plate on bumper helps to enhance the SUV look from the rear. When all elements from front to rear end comes together create a mix effect of MPV inside SUV.

The vehicle is powered by various types of power houses. The 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine produce peak 170 Bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Another 1.5-Liter turbocharged petrol engine produce peak 143 Bhp of power and 250 Nm torque. When an extra support is needed, a 48-volt battery powered electric motor produce 20 Nm of torque and this advanced technology is available in hybrid variants only. According to the company, combination of three major new generation technology working together like auto engine start-stop, regenerative braking, e-boost ensures emissions reduction and increased fuel efficiency. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a DCT automatic gearbox in the top end petrol engine variant only.

Inside the Hector, company used soft touch elements in many places including dashboard and door pads. The quality of the plastic inside the vehicle is quit nice and the overall gap between the panels is so narrow that it is difficult to find. The silver finish around the dashboard air vents, on steering wheel and on door handles gives the feel of a premium finish inside.

Hector comes with a Huge 10.4 inch touch screen infotainment system with all kinds of features like Android Auto, Apple Car play, Navigation, Bluetooth, iPod compatibility, DVD/ Cd player, Voice command, AUX and USB. To provide premium sound quality while traveling it comes fitted with 6+ speakers. Both the front and rear seats provide better comfort for longer journey. To increase comfort, it come with all kind of important features such as front cup holders, front arm rest, rear arm rest with cup holders, each door offer bottle holder space and each headrest can be height adjusted.

The most attractive part is panoramic sunroof that helps to increase luxury to the whole new next level inside the vehicle and offers a better viewing area with increased natural light inside the cabin.

It come with all kind of safety features like rear defogger with washer wiper, ORVM Heating System to remove mist from mirror ABS, EBD, BA, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Traction Control System (TCS), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Front & Rear parking sensor and 360 Degree parking camera assistance.
